Moya, Mzimba, Malawi

“The people in the village admired a pump from a neighbouring village and they were linked to us and contacted us and we agreed to help them. Now the people are very thankful to Wells for Zoё and they are enjoying good water. People in the village are very friendly and are willing to work with any organisation that shows interest in helping them. Generally speaking, people in the village are poor. Children in the village mostly walk with no clothes and shoes on their feet. Some people have planted Accacia trees and Bluegum, but most of the houses have no trees, causing women to walk long distances to fetch firewood.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
