Danda 1, Mpigi District

“Women and children in Danda village used to spend massive amounts of time collecting water for drinking, cooking and washing. We often walked miles with empty jerry cans and buckets and return them full and heavy. This daily burden means losing out on education for the girls and work opportunities for the women thus affecting our well-being. Nevertheless the water we carried had bacteria, viruses and other pollutants. We as mothers often get sick and cannot be productive. Levy and drop4drop turned things around with a solution and helped to transform lives of many in Danda village.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
