Kumbwa Village, Mpigi District, Uganda

“It was like a dream to us, the people in my community never thought they would have safe water. We used to wake up very early in the morning to go fetch water and would lose hours each day walking to fetch water for the day’s tasks. The water was from swamps and there were a lot of diseases caused by using that dirty water, such as typhoid. We suffered from diarrhoea. But now we have a well constructed in our community which is a source of clean water for our community, no more water related illnesses in our community.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
