Kamuzalire Village, Kasungu District, Malawi

“Since 1984, the people of Kamuzalire village had been drinking unsafe water from open wells, and for many years they longed to have a pump in their community. Sadly, lives had been lost in the past due to waterborne diseases. The villagers are deeply grateful to Wells for Zoë for providing them with access to clean and safe water. They are hardworking people, with some having travelled to South Africa in search of better opportunities. The community is eager to welcome more organisations and individuals of goodwill to support development in the area and help uplift their lives.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
