Mundu Basic Primary School, Yei River State, South Sudan

“Joice Maneno is a pupil at Mundu Basic Primary School in Primary Four (P4). She lives in Mundu with her parents and siblings. Joice is 16 years old, and her daily task is carrying four jerry cans of water before preparing to go to school. At times if it’s raining, it becomes tough to go through the narrow bush path to the water points. When she missed going fetch water in the morning, she goes to school with an empty jerry can to the school, and during departure time, she carries water home. The situation is not easy for this young school-going girl, but she’s happy as a pupil because she can now drink from a clean water source. Thank you very much for availing clean water to the school and the community.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
