“I am very happy for this new well in our community, morning time is the worst time of the day for me as a child. I have to wake up very early to do my morning chores and the most difficult one of all the chores is fetching water from the village pond. You have to be there very early so as to get clean water because by 10am it has already become muddy and unsettled. Our English teacher taught us that “only the early bird catches the worm” therefore I go to fetch water around 4am in the early morning with other children in the neighbourhood making four rounds of fetching water enough to be used at home for the whole day. With our new well I can sleep well and fetch water at any time with no worries.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
