“Elzai is a committed water well committee member. He grew concerned whenever the borehole fell into disrepair. The borehole had a leakage because the GI pipes were loose and rusted, which affected the normal flow of water. Because of the dense population of the community, some community members ended up fetching water from nearby streams, especially the elderly people. Because the well was pumping at a slow rate and because of overcrowding, the lines were too long for many to wait. The water was also running brown with rust. Now, the borehole is functioning well without any inconvenience. Elzai is proud of his community and thankful that his people will no longer suffer because of water scarcity.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
