Mabale Village, Mpigi District

“We struggled for many years without clean water. All types of weather affected how we collected and used it. When it was dry season, I would have to send my children long distances to collect water from far away ponds, or pay expensive money to get clean water from vendors. During rainy season, our local pond would be full but the mud would run into the pond and it would be too dirty to use, so we would have to collect rainwater as much as possible. Now that we have this pump we can easily get water whenever we need. I do not have to send my children to get water for me, now I can send them to school. Many thanks to Tom Hutchings for changing our lives.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
