“Kundong Fula Kunda Village water project has been completed. The lack of clean water for the community has been very hard and it affected their livelihood especially the neglect and harsh treatment they face from neighbouring villages. Parts of the handpump have been replaced to new ones while concrete work has also been done and the well has been thoroughly sanitized and de-watered free from worms and other microorganisms that cause health hazards for the community. Water trough has also been provided for domestic livestock to drink. This will help the community to raise livestock for sustainable livelihood and it will also help stop water wastage. Hand washing station was also installed for the community to exercise regular hand washing and keep the community Covid-19 free. We have long been marginalized. We lacked basic drinking water for so long. Thanks to drop4drop for waking us up and making us alive through this water project, said Modou Joof head of the village (Alkalo). We owe tremendous and powerful strong gratitude and big big big thanks to drop4drop. There is no word that I can say here that can make me fully express the immense happiness that I feel in my heart right now said Sally Dem leader of the village women’s committee. We used to walk long distances to neighbouring villages searching for water. We were drained physically, mentally and emotionally. We always face harsh treatment and pain from those travels in search of drinking water. Thanks to this project we can now rebuild our lives and feel human. Oumou Sow another woman who showed her joy and gratitude to this project said they will send their children to school especially girls. Now our girls can go to school and concentrate on their education not to be constantly thinking of the hardship they face in water collection from neighbouring villages, she said. Thank you drop4drop. We are grateful. The entire community is happily saying thank you drop4drop.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
