Kisambo Village, Hoima District, Uganda

‘Kisambo is a village in Hoima District with over 40 households and a population of about 310 people. The only source of water in this village was a pond and the nearby borehole was about 9km away in the next village. Community members were forced to use dirty water from the pond in this community. Typhoid and other water related illnesses were very rampant in this village. Many children used to miss school because of illness and families spent a lot of money on medical bills. Now a clean source of water was constructed for this community which means that this community has a reliable clean source of water. “We want to thank AON and Life water for providing our community with clean water which has been the greatest basic need in this community.”’

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
