Kang’oma Village, Mzimba District, Malawi
Donated by The Customers of Coastal Food Service and ESS Through Purchases of Cases of Water
“Many people were present and delighted as we installed the pump in the village of Zebediya – it was a truly wonderful day. The villagers have relied on open wells for water for many years. Until now, no one had shown interest in providing them with safe water. They are very grateful to Drop4Drop and Coastal & ESS for being the first non-governmental organisations to support them with clean and safe water.
People in this village are involved in small businesses and farming. They grow maize and beans, but traders often buy their produce at very low prices, leaving the villagers with little benefit from their hard work.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
