Chiputa Mvula, Mzimba

The people of Chiputa Mvula, Embangweni, struggled for a long time to find ways of how to find a good Samaritan to give them safe and clean water. They used to fetch water from open wells where they would be forced to share the water source with animals. Now the village is over the moon since drop4drop has given them a pump in the village in which they are very thankful.

Throughout the country, millions of people are forced to risk their own health as well as their families due to not having a reliable and safe water source to drink from. The real danger of contracting nasty illnesses and even catching life-threatening diseases is something our projects aim to eradicate. DROP4DROP’s mission in Malawi is not only to provide local communities with specialised water wells and pumps that suit their situation but to give them the tools and knowledge they need to maintain and use the equipment for themselves.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
