Thom Ndolo Village, Mzimba District, Malawi

“The installation work went well, and large numbers of villagers gathered to witness the process, learn how the pump works, and celebrate this important development. Previously, the community had been collecting water from a stream with poor-quality water, but they are now delighted to have access to clean and safe water within their village.

The people are poor and often struggle to earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Most families depend on farming for their livelihood, while poor road conditions create significant challenges for travel and transport. Although schools are available in the area, many children are forced to drop out because their families cannot afford the required school fees.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
