Mading Village, Warrap State, South Sudan

“My name is Mayom Riiny Riiny residing at Mading Boma. I am a 28 year old married man with two children, one boy and one girl. My main activity with my wife is farming. I only keep a few goats and chickens and cultivate crops for family living. We also access our clean drinking water here at Mading borehole, where it developed some issues of not releasing clean water anymore. My wife and I alternatively went to the Nyoric borehole to take water for drinking, washing, bathing, and cooking at home. The management of this borehole met and discussed the issue of Mading well together with beneficiaries, raised money, and called pump mechanics, who are said to have been trained by the organization in Lietnhom and placed at Mading. They arrived exactly on time and started their operation. They diagnosed the problem that happened to the borehole and presented the damaged part to the community at the borehole. They substituted the damaged part with a new one following the agreement with the water committee and community elders that were involved. Fixing was done, and labor and spare part fees were cleared to pump mechanics immediately when the repair ended. The community subsequently restart taking clean drinking water at Mading normally.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
