Zondoleni Village, Mzimba District, Malawi

“We were warmly welcomed by all the villagers in Zondoleni. Previously, wild animals and people shared the same water source, but now the villagers are overjoyed to have access to clean and safe water from the pump we installed for them, free of charge. Most of the people in the village are poor, and they were excited not only to see how the pump works but also to learn how to maintain it properly. The villagers expressed their deep gratitude for providing them with clean water at no cost. Women previously had to walk long distances to the river to fetch water. The people in the village are poor, relying mainly on farming beans and sweet potatoes for their livelihood.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
