“We already installed some other pumps in Chikande area but this was left. They have been troubling us to help them with a pump and this time they are very happy to have it at last. They wish Wells for Zoё stays long so that many communities should benefit. There are more fruit trees found in the area but no natural trees. People in the area grow a lot of cured tobacco which requires a lot of trees for firewood. They need more tree seeds to plant in the village. There are preschools but they need workshops and training for the care givers.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
