Wasozi 2 Village, Mpigi District, Uganda

“World Water Day, celebrated on March 22 each year, serves as a global reminder of the importance of clean water and the ongoing challenges many communities face in securing access to it. The day emphasizes the critical role water plays in sustaining life, supporting health, and fostering development. Despite global progress, around 2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water, and millions more struggle with inadequate sanitation facilities which was the situation in Wasozi 2 village. This village was struggling with limited access to clean water. This community was relying on unprotected water source. With the commissioning of this water source on World Water Day is a crucial step toward improving the village’s water security and health. This water source is expected to provide clean, safe drinking water for Wasozi 2 village year-round. There is a significant reduction on the time spent collecting water, improve sanitation, and most importantly, help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases like cholera and dysentery. “We want to take this opportunity to thank Last Night a Dj Saved my life Foundation and Andy Ward’s Access for constructing this clean water source in memory of Paks.” – says Racheal, Community Member.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
