“We were warmly welcomed in the village because of the pump we have given them. They were drawing water from very bad areas but now they are very thankful for the help given to them. Women during the past were walking long distances to find water for their families to drink. But water for other purposes they were drawing it from unprotected wells where all wastes were falling in. The people in the village are poor but rely on farming. When you wake up early in the morning you find women going to fields while men are going to drink beer. There are no secondary schools in the area, children spend their time caring for animals (cattle, sheep and goats).”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
