“My name is Abak Thony Kuot, I am a 21-year-old young woman who recently got married to my lovely husband Chan Chol Majok, I have no baby because I got married to my husband in January 2023. As I have come to witness the water point of Ngedo with GPS coordinates of 8.275282 and 28.588830, there has been a serous lack of water since January this year when I arrived to Ngedo village, the well stopped supplying clean drinking water in December 2022, however, the process of repair was delayed because WESI technicians deployed at Mabior team were called to come and repaired Ngedo well last year, they installed two pipes but their fees were not paid all. This compelled the community to collect both previous and current fees so that they can call technicians to come and repair. After several months of struggle collecting fees, everything was possible, all households contributed massively which led to the coming of technicians for fixing today. When mechanics disassembled this well, they found that the problem was the cylinder which got disconnected and definitely ceased pulling or releasing water, the cylinder was tightened very well and examined alone with water in the bucket and all went well, the well was finally fixed which led to the provision of clean drinking water.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
