Ndiwere, Nkhata-Bay, Malawi

“The village is big but they only had a pond dug near the village. When you go where they fetch water you will feel pity on how they struggle to get water; hours and hours are wasted to get water because the water comes out very slowly and some women woke up as early as 3AM to get water. The village is not very far from the main road hence no problems of transportation. Schools are there and most children attend school. They grow a lot of Cassava for food. The village has a lot of trees.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
