“The dry season in our community is compared to a mourning period. We have a pond that all members of this community fetch water from, it has been our only source of water for as long as I can remember and there has been no other. Even though it’s just a pond with unsafe water, we were happy to receive water from it during the rainy season. The pond dries up in the dry season and that means we have to travel to the next village to fetch water which is a very far distance and their water too is far from being safe water for human consumption. With the new well, I am happy we can now access clean safe water in all seasons, even the dry season will now be a normal season, we can now think of it joyfully.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
