Munyanya Village, Kasungu District, Malawi

“We were warmly welcomed by the cheerful people of Munyanya village, where access to water has been a long-standing issue. Residents had to walk long distances to collect water from a river, which made daily life especially difficult. They are thankful to the team for providing much-needed support. The villagers live in poverty and depend on farming – mainly beans and maize – as their primary source of livelihood. Reaching the village is also challenging, particularly during the rainy season, due to poor road conditions.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
