“Since women bear the brunt of the burden of poor management of water sources, we are now empowered through greater and more effective participation. Previously local wells would fall into disrepair as they were not looked after and nobody knew how to fix. We the women would have to travel long ways to collect water or pay high prices for water vendors. I am now trained to take care of this new water source and will empower people in my community to take care of this new water source.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
