Lubugumu 2 Village, Mpigi District, Uganda
Donated by The Customers of Coastal Food Service and ESS Through Purchases of Cases of Water
”Lubugumu 2 village never had a source of safe water. The closest source of water was five kilometers away, so the community members often collected water from a pond which was shared with animals. Waterborne diseases like typhoid were common in this community. Now with this clean and safe water source, community members are able to fetch water quicker, easier and more comfortably. Namukwaya Mary a community member narrates “ We used to drink water that we knew was dirty and unsafe , but because we had no choice , we collected the water as it was. Now with this clean source of water we collect water with a lot of ease and comfort ,without fear because it is now visibly cleaner and safer than before. Thanks to Coastal Food Services and ESS.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
