Kanzira 3 Village, Mpigi District, Uganda

“Before the installation of this project, I used to fetch water from the neighbouring village of Kabahara. I had to travel a very long distance of about two kilometers, taking about two hours including waiting time. My daughter suffered from diarrhoea and malaria, and I had to spend money for transport every time to go to the nearby health center. Now that this Water source has been constructed, there is going to be reduced medical expenditures since we shall be drinking clean water now. The time I used to spend walking long distances in search for clean water and at the hospital, I will now spend on productive work in the garden.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
