Kamuchilemba, Mzimba, Malawi

“The people were happy to have a pump in the village for the first time. Water has always been a major challenge. Many organisations have approached the village with the offer of assistance but attempts were unsuccessful, so they are thankful to for giving them a pump. They are very far from the main road causing them problems to sell their produce. There is no Hospital in the area also causing problems when they get sick. The area also is deforested leaving women walk long distances to fetch firewood; and so they are requesting for tree seeds.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
