“Women danced as we were installing the pump in the village. Seeing the place where the community were drawing water before, it is hard to believe that a human being can survive by drinking these bad waters. Many thanks to WfZ for helping provide good water to the village. The village is big and has a lot of villagers. Most of the people in the village are farmers; they grow maize and groundnuts. Also most of them live in good houses even though they are poor. In most of the houses you will only find women and children as the men have gone to South Africa for supposedly ‘greener pastures’.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
