Jansuk, Yei River State, South Sudan

Jansuk Community is located 3.5 miles from the city center on Maridi road after it branches to Harvesters School. 25 year old Night Viola is a resident of Jansuk and a mother of five children. Night fled from Jansuk community 15 miles away to Logo village three years ago when Yei River State was the epicentre of the conflict. In Logo, Night had no access to clean water, sanitation was poor as the water hole she accessed was used by animals as well, and health facilities were non existent. As soon as she received word that peace had returned to her area, Night packed up her belongings and her children to go back home. She needed to be near water, and a health facility as her children had significantly struggled with waterborne diseases. Night Viola is grateful for the restored well allowing her access to clean water and health and will resume her farming business to pay fees for school for her children.

On behalf of Night Viola,

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
