Gbokiden, Yei River State, South Sudan

This is Agnes Saima a resident of Gbokiden residential area in Mukaya county of Yei River State. She is 50 years old with seven children. Agnes is a church leader in St. Philips church Mukaya county and during the conflicts, she was living and leading in the church together with other church members. Agnes said there was a plan to conduct a church conference but there was no nearby clean source water while the church borehole was down. The borehole was broken for the last four years and there was no access to clean water for the people, the communities moved far from the centers because of fear for insecurity and water problems. Today the communities in Mukaya are blessed with the visit of the repair crew. According to Agnes, that’s an answer to prayers because water is life and the people of Mukaya are drinking unclean water for the last four years. Agnes would like to sincerely thank individual supporters and different institutions funding this project of Water Is Basic and to the local technicians. It’s a proof of faith for your tireless effort for coming this far while other people fear to reach such areas in South Sudan. Thank You very much funders and EPC for delivering the best offer for life to the people of Mukaya.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
