Donated by University of Brighton through purchases of Life Water
‘Before installation of this hand pump, we were spending a lot of money treating waterborne illnesses, such as diarrhoea, that my 2 children of age 8 and 6 years old, were getting from the contaminated water we were using for drinking, bathing, and caring for our home. Since receiving hand pump well and hygiene training, my 2 children have not experienced any waterborne illnesses. It is saving us money we used to spend on medical care because our children are no longer getting sick. The money saved from medical expenses and purchasing clean water we can now be used for supporting the family’s other necessities. Many thanks to the sponsor this well University of Brighton for helping us with this sustainable water source.’

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
