Thank You To Everyone Who Drank Life Water at Glastonbury 2024
“My name is Abuk Madut Deng. I am 32 years old, and I am married to my lovely husband, who, by God, we are blessed with five children: two boys and three girls. Three children among five children are now attending the school, one boy and two girls, and those two kids are remaining at home because they are still young. I am now doing micro business in the Wanyjok market, and that business is now improving my life; now, I’m feeding my children and providing for their needs, and I’m also paying their school requirements every year. Unfortunately, I have five days now without going to the market to operate the shop because our well broke 7 days ago. The children lack water at home to drink, cook, bathe, and finally wash. The children can not manage to collect water from neighboring wells, and most of the people have now stopped their businesses due to the broken wells. We always wake up early in the morning to search for water, and from there, we come back home in the midday because there’s a long wait line at the well where some people will fight, and then the well could be locked for a good number of hours to solve the problems. We now feel excited because our well was being repaired and supplying us with clean water. We won’t have to go far to fetch water any longer. We shall resume our business in the market tomorrow morning because our children will collect water for themselves very near here. No one will be thirsty because when there is water, drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing dishes and clothes at home are no longer problems.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
