Mandinaba Village, Kombo East District, The Gambia

“Mandinaba is a medium-sized village. It is located on the Trans-Gambia South Bank Road, about 7 kilometers from the town of Brikama. The community is at the junction of the Sility road which heads towards the Gambia/Senegal border. Because Mandinaba is very close to the River Gambia, the lands are rich and strong. Farmers in the community are able to grow food to feed their families as well as grow cash crops such as groundnut and maize. The community is large and its water source is not enough to provide clean drinking water for the community which makes most areas of the village vulnerable to consuming bad water causing illness to people.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
