“To meet our daily needs, we had to use water from the near by pond, which is not fit for consumption. We had no way of filtering it. We couldn’t even boil it, because we needed firewood. We used to walk for miles to get clean water. During each rainy season, thousands of people would get cholera or dysentery. But most people here are illiterate, and they believed that witchcraft was to blame for the regular illnesses. Thanks to Life water and Soho House for providing us with this clean source of water. We are now going to live healthy lives.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
