Chambala, Kasungu, Malawi

People gathered in their number to witness the installation of a pump in their village. There has been big problems to get water before this pump was installed. They were drawing water from a river which is not protected.

Most of the people in the village are farmers and are poor. They get money through farming. This year they expect to have low harvest because of heavy rainfalls, They have trees in the area. No health facility in the area causes problems when they are sick.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
