Zoto Chavula Village, Mzimba District, Malawi

“The pump installation was successfully completed, and many villagers are overjoyed to have a pump in their village for the first time. In the past, women faced great hardship, walking long distances to collect contaminated water from open wells that were unsafe for consumption. Despite this positive development, the village continues to face serious challenges, including widespread poverty and limited access to essential services. As small-scale farmers, the residents struggle to make ends meet and improve their living conditions.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
