Semukombe 1, Mpigi District, Uganda

“With the construction of a clean source of water in Semukombe community, Betty has increased her economic activities. She has used the available water to increase her family’s nutrition and also has a kitchen garden where she grows vegetables. Betty is also able to irrigate her vegetables. She grows different kinds of fruits which help to improve her family’s nutrition. She has livestock and without water it would be hard for her to feed them.
“Now that we have water in our community, our children will have enough time to concentrate on their studies and thus get good grades.”Betty happily mentions. With children now having enough time for revision, Betty is confident that this will make their children excel and thus become future leaders; one thing every parent dreams about in this community. Special thanks go to Medirest for your generosity. May God bless you.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
