Sakabusolo 3 village, Mpigi District, Uganda

“The only water source available to the community was an unprotected pond a good 2 hours walk away. After an assessment by drop4drop, lack of clean drinking water in the area was seen as a significant problem. Drop4drop constructed a clean water source for this community. The water source has brought a multitude of changes to the community, including the development of a water committee that has been trained to help with the maintenance of this new well. The households have agreed to collect a monthly contribution of 500 Ugandan Shillings for the upkeep and repair of the water source. In addition, a dedicated young man named Richard rises early each morning to clean and repair the water point before families arrive.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
