Poovalai BC Village, Tamil Nadu, India

“I am Mrs. Dilshad Begum (26 years old) W/o Mr. Shafi Ahmed of Poovalai BC Village privileged to thank and greet NEWS NGO, DROP4DROP, U.K. and kindly donated by TOMO, for a deep Borewell fitted with an Electrical Motor and a 2000 Liters Overhead Tank to our Poovalai BC Village. In our village there is only one tap and we used to wait for the WATER LINEMAN to open the valve to supply the water. Within a short period all of us used to quarel and fetch very few pots which was not sufficient and again we had to wait for the next time to get the water. Most of the time we used to go long distances to open ponds and wash clothes once in a week and dry it up in open areas and wait for few hours for the dresses to get dried and return walking to our homes. It was a great struggle and the children were not able to wear clean and tidy dresses. Now the new water project serves as a great blessing to all the people and we are very happy to see
the water nearer to our homes. THANK YOU TOMO, DROP4DROP, U.K. AND NEWS NGO”

Mrs. Dilshad Begum, Community Member

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
