Kitigi Village, Mpigi District, Uganda

“Jane, a mother from the Kitigi community, used to endure almost a 6km walk to and from the nearest water supply to fetch drinking water for her family. She now doesnt have to travel along distance for clean drinking water, saving her a tremendous amount of time each day. Jane will even be able to start a small beadwork business, along with several other women in her community , making use of their spare time not spent walking to get water. The construction of this water source has reduced the burden of walking long distances, fetching dirty water and contaminated water”.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
