“With more access to safe and clean water, Mary’s family is healthy. “I have time for myself and also concentrate on farming because we now have clean water”.

An immediate benefit was saving time, particularly for women and children, who usually collect water for the household. With this water source nearby, women have more time for other duties, such as childcare. But they can also contribute to household nutrition through home gardens, and even earn an income if surpluses can be sold.

With more access to safe and clean water, Mary’s family is healthy and safe. “I have time to concentrate on my job and I now have more time to work in my garden. I no longer spend a lot of my time going to fetch water,” she says.” – Drop4Drop in country partner.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
