Kamwala Village, Mzimba District, Malawi

“The pump installation was well done. Despite a funeral in the village where many villagers had gone, some villagers welcomed us in the village and have learnt how they can use the water pump. Water has been a big problem in the village ever since with animals and people sharing the same source. People are poor but they are good farmers. Lots of crops are grown in this village. More of them are produced in the area but markets to sell their crops are very far and vendors are the ones who buy their crops but at lower prices.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
