“My name is Akut Achuil. I’m 37 years old and am married to my beloved husband. God blessed us with six children, three boys and three girls. Unfortunately, God took my husband away from caring for me and my children in 2022, and I am now left with a very difficult life with these six kids because I can’t manage to send them to school. They can only survive through farming in the garden in the village, and I have tried to request the Government to help me send some of them to school, but it failed because there is no salary for the Government for one year, and I am now just praying for the almighty father to help me so that my children can join the school this year. As we are residing in the Comboni residential area, we were just getting clean water from the Comboni borehole, but when it broke within these 4 days, we suffered a lot because there were so many people who were taking clean water from the same well. We went to the neighboring well, which can take almost two hours on foot. People at that well are very rude and violent to outsiders. They charged high fees of 10,000 SSP for each one of us to use their well. The Team from Toch came and repaired our Comboni borehole. We are so happy with the great support they have given to us in Jarmou by repairing our well successfully. We no longer have to use the neighboring well. We don’t have to pay taxes to neighbor wells again. With these few remarks, I would like to thank each and every one for the support to us in Jarmou.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
