This village had a shallow well before. Since this well dried up four years ago, people struggled to find water. They have been asking many people to help assist them for quite some time. They are now very thankful to drop4drop for the assistance as they did not hesitate when asked. Malawi is one of Africa’s most densely populated and least developed countries. Most people live in rural areas where water is scarce; as a result, many women and children spend hours of their day walking to collect water. Over 80% of the population is employed in agriculture, and the long-lasting effects of recent droughts are particularly pervasive. Rural communities particularly struggle to generate stable income, as the effects of challenging landscapes are far less forgiving than in urban areas. DROP4DROP has begun working across Malawi, with a focus on implementing community led water teams to ensure efficiency and longevity of every clean water project.
