“Many villagers warmly welcomed us to the village of Chinyanja in the area of Kawonekera and were overjoyed to receive a pump for the first time. Women danced to express their appreciation. The community had long wished for a pump but didn’t know where to turn for help, and they are very thankful to Drop4Drop and Coastal & ESS for responding quickly when asked for assistance.

The villagers are poor and face many daily challenges – they have no markets to sell their crops after harvest and no nearby health facilities, making access to medical care difficult when they are unwell.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
