Chibwana Moyo village is in Embangweni. Like other villages, Chibwana Moyo has many challenges. Before the installation of their new pump, they were drinking water which was not protected. They also welcome the tree planting programme and are planning to plant bluegum trees in all bare ground.

Tree planting projects help to keep the land fertile and can also improve the volume of water within in the well itself.

DROP4DROP’s mission in Malawi is not only to provide local communities with specialised water wells and pumps that suit their situation but to give them the tools and knowledge they need to maintain and use the equipment for themselves.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
