Bwindi, Kasungu, Malawi

“The surrounding was not good as we reached the place but people cleared the whole surrounding and a little bit of plastering was done because the well was built sometime back. This is the place where one woman was killed by a crocodile as she was drawing water from Bua river. Now everyone in the village is happy because a pump has been installed in the village. There are no good roads leading to the village. There is no health facility and people have problems when they want medical help. Lots of children don’t go to school because schools are very far from the village.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
