“For years, the people of Buyaya 3 community lived with a daily struggle of finding clean and safe water. Every morning, before school, the children in this community would walk nearly five kilometers in search of clean water. The water was shared with animals because it’s all they had. But everything began to change the day a team from Drop4Drop visited this community. They met with the village elders, listening carefully as the community shared their challenges. Instead of imposing solutions, the team from Drop4Drop asked a simple question. “ What do you need and how can we help you build together?” narrates Nakato Jamila. The answer was clear – clean water!! Over the next few weeks, something remarkable happened. The entire village came together. Men and women helped dig deep into the earth under the guidance of engineer. Young people carried stones and sand. Even the children played their part, bringing water for construction and cheering on the workers. Slowly, a water source took shape. Life changed quickly after the construction of a clean water source in Buyaya 3 community. Children no longer have to wake before dawn to fetch water and they arrive at school on time. Cases of illness dropped and the journey that once took hours now takes minutes thanks to AISG ANNAUL FUND”.

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
