Bayisi Nyirenda, Nkhata Bay, Malawi

“The installation was good and more men and women gathered to witness the installation of a pump in the village, they had a borehole which was broken for a year now and they have been using water from open wells. People in the village most of the times suffer from headache and Malaria but since no hospital is nearby they suffer a lot. There are no good roads which means that organisations generally have no interest to work in this village. They are grateful for the changes this pump will make to the community.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
