As a single mother of three daughters and one boy, Hellen, a 32 year old widow has to send her children to school, feed them and provide for all their needs. She also used to wake up as early as 5am with all her children to trek in search for water. Even when they got to the water source, they still had to wait in a line. It takes a long time that her children go to school late.
“They take as many jerry cans as much as they can carry but it’s still never enough for all the chores, cooking and for the animals. We had to forego things like bathing every day, washing all the time. My pain is when my children get chased away from school for wearing dirty uniforms. I am really joyful for the well in our village. I can wash my children’s clothes and uniforms anytime so that they will not be embarrassed at a school. Thank you drop4drop for this water source.”

This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
