Ajara Saidyba, a local woman traditional communicator (Kanyelleng) said their children will no longer complain of diarrhoea and other related illnesses: “This will help us concentrate on other social economic ventures for our children’s education and not to be travelling back and forth to the District Clinic due to diarrhoea and other water related illnesses. This hurts us economically.” Oumie Kah who is also a village women leader, said “pregnant women can now breathe fresh air with a great relief and less stress because they will be drinking clean water, safe for them and their unborn child. This project was undertaken as part of our campaign of projects that actively reduce carbon emissions. This project helped the community save their much needed wood which was previously being burnt daily to boil water. This project has also eliminated the many thousands of hours previously spent on walking to collect water.
